BC’s Melchionda, 13 other Massachusetts players selected in MLB Draft

Fourteen prospects were selected out of Massachusetts high schools and colleges in the MLB draft, though none were taken before the 14th round, and all but one went on the third and final day. Here is the list of locals:

Round 31: LHP Brent Suter, Milwaukee (Harvard)
Round 32: LHP Andrew Ferreira, Minnesota (Harvard)
Round 32: 1B Jon Leroux, N.Y. Mets (Northeastern)
Round 35: RHP Pat Delano, Boston (Braintree HS)
Round 37: RHP Rob Finneran, Tampa Bay (Bentley)
Round 38: 3B Jeff Reynolds, N.Y. Mets (Harvard)

Notes: Mike Yastrzemski, grandson of Carl, was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 30th round out of Vanderbilt.
