Intriguing Nationals arrive at Fenway Park

The most interesting team in baseball comes to Fenway Park tonight.

The Washington Nationals don’t have the best record in the game, that belongs to the Dodgers. But they’re 32-23 and lead the NL East by a game over the Braves.

Nick Cafardo spoke to GM Mike Rizzo and wrote a story about the Nationals and their young talent for today’s paper.

The Nationals will have 23-year-old Stephen Strasburg on the mound tonight. All he has done in his career is go 12-5 with a 2.46 ERA and 195 strikeouts in 157 innings.

Outfielder Bryce Harper, 19, is hitting .285/.369/.515 in 34 games. He is the youngest player to homer in the majors since Adrian Beltre in 1998.

They have other familiar names such as Gio Gonzalez, Jayson Werth, Ryan Zimmerman, Chien-Ming Wang and Edwin Jackson. Manager Davey Johnson beat the Red Sox in the 1986 World Series when he was with the Mets.

Interleague games are not what they once were. But this series should be a lot of fun to watch.
