Pedroia gets two hits, rushes to wife’s side

Dustin Pedroia left the game before the seventh inning when his wife, Kelli, went into labor with their second child.

“I got the word that it was time and told him,” Valentine said. “I told him to leave.”

Pedroia was 2 for 3 with a run scored. He is up to .295, having hit safely in 35 of his last 38 games.

Good luck to Dustin and Kelli with the baby. We’re sure the kid will have great intangibles.
