Good morning from Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Good morning from Jet Blue Park.

The Red Sox play the Orioles today at 1:05 p.m. You can read about the Orioles in my Sunday Baseball Notes in the Boston Globe today.

We’ll monitor the Jon Lester talks. We learned Saturday that Lester’s agent, Seth Levinson, has engaged in at least two discussions concerning Lester’s contract extension.

Not much to report on the David Ortiz extension talks. Ortiz’ agents had one face-to-face conversation, but nothing new has developed there.

Grady Sizemore said he’s OK after crashing into the wall at Hammond Field Saturday. We’ll check on what the day after is like for him, which remains key to whether Sizemore can take the pounding of everyday playing.

Felix Doubront will pitch today for the Red Sox vs. the Orioles. Doubront worked out in a structured environment this offseason. We’ll see if he can take the next step toward being one of the top lefties in baseball this season.

In our other coverage in the Globe this morning:

The camp report details Saturday’s 6-2 loss to the Twins.

The notebook covers Allen Webster’s shaky first outing of the spring.

Today’s On Baseball column explains the baseball brotherhood of Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski and Doug Mientkiewicz, who is now a minor-league manager in Fort Myers.
