Red Sox make first round of cuts

FORT MYERS, Fla. — The Red Sox made their first round of cuts this morning, reassigning 12 players. Here’s the list:

Optioned to Triple A Pawtucket (5): OF Bryce Brentz, 3B Garin Cecchini, OF-1B Alex Hassan, RHP Anthony Ranaudo, RHP Alex Wilson

Reassigned to minor league camp (7): RHP Matt Barnes, RHP Miguel Celestino, INF Heiker Meneses, LHP Henry Owens, RHP Noe Ramirez, 1B Travis Shaw, C Blake Swihart.

Players on the 40-man roster are optioned. Non-roster players are reassigned.

With the cuts, the Red Sox now have 46 players in camp.
