According to a report on SoxProspects.com, Red Sox prospect Mookie Betts will be promoted from Double-A Portland to Triple-A Pawtucket immediately.
The 21-year-old Betts has been hitting well all season in the minors, putting up a .355/.443/.551 line in 54 games. He can play both second base and center field, where he started playing recently. Betts recently saw his streak of reaching base in 71 games come to an end.
The polished prospect leads the Eastern League with a .355 ave. with 35 walks, 20 strikeouts, with 27 extra-base hits and 22 stolen bases.
Betts was a fifth-round draft pick in 2011 and is currently ranked as the top prospect in the Red Sox system.
