Notes: The Orioles learned today that third baseman Manny Machado was suspended five games and fined for intentionally throwing his bat on the field during Sunday’s game against Oakland… He is appealing the suspension and is in the lineup tonight… Workman has allowed no more than three runs and gone at least 5 innings pitched in each of his first 6 major league starts, the first pitcher to do that as a Red Sox since Ernie Shore in 1914… Brock Holt went 1-for-3 with a walk last night and has reached base in 17 of his 18 starts as the Sox leadoff hitter… He’s on a 9 game hitting streak… Tillman is 3-0 with a 1.45 ERA in his last five home outings against the Red Sox… The Sox are 15-26 when opposing a righthanded starter.
