Bogaerts Out with the Flu

Xander Bogaerts was out of the starting lineup for the Red Sox’ series finale against the Indians at Fenway Park. Brock Holt is back at third base.

Manager John Farrell said Bogaerts was out with flu-like symptoms.

“We’ve kept him away from the group as much as we can [Sunday] morning,” Farrell said. “Hopefully, this doesn’t become something that spreads. Hopefully he’s back in the lineup [Monday].”

Bogaerts is batting .278/.366/.429. He went 1-for-4 and scored a run in the Sox’ loss on Saturday. On Friday his eighth inning solo home run snapped an 0-for-19 skid. Three of his six home runs this season have been against the Indians.
