Game 114: Workman Takes the Hill; Betts Optioned Back to Pawtucket

Joy R. Absalon / USA Today

Brandon Workman looks to followup on the solid start from Joe Kelly last night when the Red Sox take on the Cardinals in the final game of the three-game set tonight at Busch Stadium. Unfortunately, the Sox righthander will be opposing Cards’ ace Adam Wainwright.

The Red Sox have optioned Mookie Betts back to Pawtucket to make room for Kelly Johnson who has been on a rehab stint with Double-A Portland. Johnson was on the disabled list with a groin injury that took place before he was acquired from the Yankees. Betts was hitting .244 in 13 games for Boston on the season. Johnson was batting .219 in 77 games for the Yankees before landing on the DL.
