Go big or go home has always been Jonny Gomes’s style. And the former Red Sox outfielder did not disappoint along with A’s teammate Jon Lester in doing the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Let’s just say Gomes and Lester had a very large bucket of ice dumped on them at the O.co Coliseum.
The two recently dealt Oakland teammates had been challenged by David Ortiz last week, who was challenged by the hard-nosed former Red Sox right fielder Trot Nixon.
Gomes and Lester also challenged the rest of the group of former Red Sox players Gomes coined the “core seven who got traded” to do the Challenge: Stephen Drew, Andrew Miller, Felix Doubront, Jake Peavy, John Lackey.
“We also want to challenge the man who did it all, Ben Cherington,” Gomes said.
You’ve got 24 hours, Ben.
