No Lester? No Problem: Red Sox Are Odds-On Favorite to Win American League Pennant

It looks like some bookies feel better about the local nine’s chances next season than Red Sox Nation does this morning.

With baseball’s winter meetings in the rear view mirror, and Jon Lester all snug in his new Cubs uniform, it’s time to turn our attention to the 2015 season and see which teams are in position to finish on top next October.

The online sportsbook Bovada released updated odds for potential 2015 World Series winners and your Boston Red Sox right now are favored to win the AL pennant at 9/1 odds.

Only the Los Angeles Dodgers — at 15/2 odds — are favored over the Red Sox to win the World Series. The Cubs moved from 50/1 odds on Oct. 30 to 12/1 odds today, read: Lester factor. The Yankees, who were tied with the Red Sox at 22/1 odds at the end of Oct., now sit at 25/1 odds to win it all.

But who knew Vegas loved Rick Porcello so much?

Bet the Sox brass are wishing these numbers came out before Friday’s Christmas at Fenway ticket event.
