Extra Points

Bill’s take

A few comments from Bill Belichick’s post-game press conference:

Opening statement
“I was real proud of our players today. I thought they went out and played a real good football game. I thought we executed a lot of things well in the game. Certainly some things could have been better. Overall, I thought it was a real solid effort. We got a lot of good play from our entire offense, obviously any time you score that number of points, that’s good. We made some plays on defense, had a big play in the kicking game. Overall, I thought it was a solid effort. The players deserve a lot of credit. It’s been a long week. It’s been a long preseason getting ready for this game. I thought they came down here and did a good job today. It’s one game, it doesn’t really mean much. There is a long way to go. We haven’t clinched anything. We play San Diego next week, they’re one of the best teams in the league. We’ll have our hands full with them, we’re well aware of that. A lot of corrections we need to make from today. We need to move on and get better. There were some positive things to build on today. So that was good.”

On Ellis Hobbs taking the kickoff out of the end zone
“He’s aggressive and he made it work. I don’t think anyone is going to say anything to him.”

On Randy Moss
“That’s the way Randy plays. He’s a good player. When he’s had a chance to make plays, he’s made them.”

On the offensive line
“I thought the offensive line did a good job. We ran the ball with some consistency. We weren’t in a lot of long-yardage situations, and that of course, helps the pass protection. It helps everything. The runners ran well. I thought it was a good solid effort offensively. We didn’t have a lot of penalties. Didn’t turn the ball over.”
