Belichick delivers verbal game ball to Wright

Patriots defensive lineman Mike Wright has shown the versatility this year to play all over the defensive line. And with injuries to Vince Wilfork and Ty Warren decimating the defensive line’s depth yesterday, his malleability was key to the Patriots’ win.

Don’t believe it? Ask Bill Belichick. When asked this morning about areas where the team did well, the coach said that there were plenty of positives, though some of them weren’t consistent.

Let’s let him take it away from there . . .

“I think some of the positives in there were consistent, and then there were some good individual performances,” Belichick said. “Mike Wright had a tremendous game, that’s about as good a game as a defensive lineman can play, really. All the things that he did in the running game, the passing game.

“He played a couple different positions, played left end, played nose, actually had some snaps in the sub. So individually there were some great things along the way too.”

Wright finished with six tackles, two for losses, and registered a big sack in the first quarter that changed the game’s momentum after the Buffalo offense started hot.

It’s easy to say he did well. It means more that the coach would agree.
