HOUSTON — (FINAL, Patriots 27, Texans 34: The Patriots were unable to piece together a comeback leaving Reliant Stadium with the 34-27 loss. Bigger concerns await the Patriots as the extent of Wes Welker’s injury is unknown. The loss ends a three-game winning streak for the Patriots.

The Texans make the most of the turnover, as Foster runs 3 yards for the touchdown, completing a 28-yard, 4-play drive that took 1:55.

(4th quarter, 3:49, Patriots 27, Texans 27):
Pollard continues to be a thorn in the Patriots side getting an interception to give the Texans the ball on the Patriots 28.

(4th quarter, 4:43, Patriots 27, Texans 27):
The Texans have tied the score as Arian Foster scored a 1-yard touchdown. It completed a 34-yard, 7-play drive.

The Patriots offensive line has allowed two sacks today. The Texans broke through to sack Brady on the drive, forcing the Patriots to punt. The Texans take over on the Patriots 34 after a 31-yard return by Jones.

The Texans inch closer as Jacoby Jones made an athletic catch, dragging both feet in the end zone for the touchdown. Jones grabbed an 8-yard pass for the touchdown. The play completed a 9-play, 69-yard drive.

Taylor gets his second touchdown of the day, rushing 11 yards into the end zone. It capped a nine-play, 71-yard drive that burned 3:53.

Pat Chung is slow to get up after kickoff return. He is walked off the field and standing along the sideline. He returned to the game later.

Darius Butler intercepted Schaub’s tipped pass  and returned it 91 yards for the touchdown. The Texans were on the Patriots 15 yard line on the play. It is the longest play for or against the Patriots this season. The interception was the longest return for the Patriots since Jimmy Hitchcock returned one 100 yards in 1997 against Miami.

Patriots offensive lineman Dan Connolly limps off the field. He is headed to the locker room.

(2d quarter, 4:41, Patriots 10, Texans 13):
Brian Hoyer enters the game in place of Brady and on his first play from the 1-yard line, he hands off to Fred Taylor. Linebacker Zach Diles stripped Taylor of the ball in the end zone and Bernard Pollard scrambled to recover it in the end zone for the touchdown. But Kris
Brown missed the extra point leaving the score at 13-10 Texans.

(2d quarter, 4:50, Patriots 10, Texans 7):
The Patriots get a stop when Shawn Springs prevents Johnson from getting free to catch Schaub’s pass in the corner of the end zone fourth on fourth and goal from the 1-yard line.

(2d quarter, 6:24, Patriots 10, Texans 7 ): The Texans get a bonus when Sanders was flagged for a tough hit on receiver David Anderson in the end zone. Anderson was falling as he attempted a catch and was hit from behind by Sanders. Anderson was down for a few minutes but walked off the field under his own power. Sanders received a flag for unnecessary roughness that moved the ball to first and goal from the Patriots 9.

(2d quarter, 9:51, Patriots 10, Texans 7):
Stephen Gostkowski booms a 51-yard field goal to give the Patriots the lead. It completed a 9-play, 58 yard drive in 4:47. The field goal is the second longest of the season and third longest of Gostkowski’s career. He is 4 of 5 from more than 50 yards.


(1st quarter, :50, Patriots 7, Texans 7): Fred Taylor runs in four yards for the touchdown to give tie the score. It completed a nine-play 63 yard drive in 4:39. It is the first touchdown for Taylor since scoring against the Falcons in September. Taylor returned last week after missing 10 games with an ankle injury.

(1st quarter 7:17, Patriots 0, Texans 7):
Welker had his head buried in his towel, clearly upset. When players came back to the sideline, they gave Welker their support and he was carted to the locker room with a towel draped over his head.

(1st quarter, 9:39, Patriots 0, Texans 7):
Welker catches a pass and while trying to make a move his left knee buckled. Brady went over to Welker while he was being helped by trainers. He hobbled off the field with the help of both trainers and was taken to the bench.

(1st quarter, 11:12, Patriots 0, Texans 7):
Brady takes the field along with Wes Welker, Julian Edelman and Randy Moss on their first drive of the game. The Patriots start from their 25.

(1st quarter, 11:19, Patriots 0, Texans 7): The explosive Texans offense displayed its strengths on the opening drive, going 76 yards on seven plays in 3 minutes, 41 seconds. Matt Schaub completed the drive with a 25-yard touchdown pass to tight end Joel Dreessen.

(1st quarter, 14:52, Patriots 0, Texans 0): Shawn Springs is covering Andre Johnson at this point. First pass by Schaub is incomplete.

Captains: Jerod Mayo, Randy Moss and Sam Aiken are the captains representing the Patriots on the coin flip. Houston won the toss and chose to receive.


Brady ribs: Charlie Casserly reported on CBS that Tom Brady has three broken ribs. The first mention of Brady injuring his ribs came in the Patriots’ last meeting against Miami. Brady left the first quarter briefly after taking a hit in that game. Ribs have been added to the practice report ever since.

Lineup changes: Mike Wright is going to start at end for Warren and Sammy Morris is starting for Laurence Maroney.

Pregame: Greetings from Reliant Stadium. We’re about 20 minutes from kickoff here. The Texans are looking for a little help to make the playoffs but they have to win before the scenarios kick in. The Patriots have clinched their playoff berth but seeding could be affected by today’s result.

Inactives: Patriots inactives for today are cornerback Terrence Wheatley, cornerback Leigh Bodden, running back Kevin Faulk, running back Laurence Maroney, offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell, nose tackle Vince Wilfork, defensive lineman Ty Warren.

For the Texans: wide receiver Glenn Martinez, running back Chris Henry, cornerback Mark Parson, guard Tutan Reyes, tackle Ephraim Salaam, defensive end Tim Jamison, defensive tackle Frank Okam and Dan Orlovsky is the third quarterback.
