As the AFC East turns

Can you imagine the feeling you guys might get at the sight of Tedy Bruschi wearing a Jets jersey?

Yeah, that’s probably about how Dolphins will feel seeing Jason Taylor in Green. As Armando Sulguero of the Miami Herald first reported, Taylor is ready to end the weeks-long drama surrounding his status and officially become a New York Jet.

So what does this mean for the Patriots?

Well, for one, it means that New England has to worry less about Adalius Thomas heading to Jersey immediately after he’s finally released here. But it also creates another problem for the Patriots.

With Taylor leaving — and Joey Porter gone — the Dolphins now have a pretty glaring need at outside linebacker, where promising pass-rusher Cameron Wake is the top returnee.

Miami will likely address that in the draft. But they could certainly use another vet at the position and the truth is that it makes sense that Thomas could be that guy.

The Dolphins’ new defensive coordinator, Mike Nolan, was the Ravens DC during some of Thomas’ formative years (something Thomas pointed out to Shalise over the weekend) as an NFL player (2002-04). And on top of that, Thomas was a major target of Nolan’s back in 2007, when the prized free agent chose New England over San Francisco.

So there’s another layer of AFC East intrigue for you. As if this division didn’t have enough this offseason.
