Joey Galloway’s tenure here with the Patriots was so ragged that his name has become with synonymous with “over-the-hill receiver” the same way JaMarcus Russell’s is with “bad quarterbacking”.

When Torry Holt signed last night week, Galloway’s story was the cautionary tale, so much so that I had to explain how the two players are so different.

And yet, Galloway’s got a new NFL home this morning. In news first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the 38-year-old will get his shot at a 16th NFL season, having signed a one-year deal with the Redskins last night. The Washington Post’s Jason Reid’s got more on the move here.

Galloway signed with the Steelers last year after being cut by the Patriots. Washington’s his sixth NFL team, and third in eight months. Redskins GM Bruce Allen and Galloway were together in Tampa Bay from 2004-08.
