Union chief’s visit with Patriots postponed

Late last week, we discussed here how NFLPA executive director DeMaurice Smith would come to town today, and how that meant there was a probability that the vote to decertify — already done by nine teams — would happen.

We’ll have to push that one back.

Smith has postponed his visit with Patriots players, because he will instead be in Atlanta for the funeral of Broncos receiver Kenny McKinley. It’s the right move, of course, by the union chief, to provide support in a very trying time for the Denver organization and its players.

So Smith will be headed to Foxborough sooner or later, it just won’t happen today. And that vote will have to happen sooner or later, it just won’t happen today.
