It may have been a knee-jerk reaction to the hefty $75,000 fine he received yesterday, but Steelers linebacker James Harrison told Fox Sports Radio last night that he might consider leaving football.
Harrison said he planned to meet with coach Mike Tomlin this morning because he was concerned his style of play would not conform to NFL rules.
“I’m going to sit down and have a serious conversation with my coach tomorrow and see if I can actually play by NFL rules and still be effective,” Harrison is quoted in a story on NFL.com. “If not, I may have to give up playing football.”
It’s the second round of headline-grabbing comments by Harrison, who expressed no remorse for his hits Sunday vs. the Browns and even fanned the flames of the debate by saying “I try to hurt people.”
