McCourty, Wilfork fined

Cornerback Devin McCourty and nose tackle Vince Wilfork have received fines totaling $15,000 from the Patriots’ win over the Packers last Sunday.

McCourty was fined $10,000 for unnecessary roughness, specifically for striking a defenseless player in the head and neck area. The rookie had a helmet-to-helmet hit on Green Bay tight end Andrew Quarless in the second quarter.

Wilfork was fined $5,000 for a major facemask penalty, specifically for grabbing an opponent by the facemask in an attempt to tackle him on a run play. Wilfork was flagged for the third-quarter play.
