Patriots defensive lineman Ron Brace, a Springfield native, is hosting a benefit tonight at Boston nightclub Saint to raise money for people in his native Springfield who were affected by the recent tornadoes.
“I’ve been racking my brain ever since it happened, just to try to find something to do to try to make some money, try to help people get their homes back, recuperate from this disaster, so they brought me the idea of doing a ‘Beauty & the Beast’ fashion show…I think it’s going to be a good jump on getting (Springfield) back to where it was, even better, possibly,” Brace said.
Brace will be walking in the fashion show, and teammates Brandon Tate and Jermaine Cunningham have confirmed that they will attend. This is not the last event he’ll hold for his home city, Brace promised.
Fortunately, none of Brace’s family members or friends were hurt during the tornadoes, and physical damages to his family’s home was not too bad. But there were homes he recalls visiting when he was a child that were either destroyed or damaged beyond repair.
Tonight’s event begins at 10 p.m.; Saint is located at 90 Exeter St.
