NFL proposed timelines to kick off camp, new season

It appears that the NFL lockout will finally come to an end today.

Following find some of the NFL’s proposed timelines for getting back to business and starting training camps, according to NFL.com:

Today:

  • 11:00 a.m.: NFL players expected to vote on proposal after NFLPA presents documents to executive committee. Clubs can begin talking to their own free agents and discussing trades.

    Tues., July 26:

  • NFL opens for business, teams can sign draftees and rookie and unrestricted free agents starting at 12:00 p.m. Teams can begin speaking to free agents. Contracts would not become official until Aug. 2.

    Wed., July 27:

  • 10 teams would open camp, including the Patriots (teams scheduled to play preseason games 15 days from this date)

    Thu., July 28:

  • 10 teams would open camp (teams scheduled to play preseason games 15 days from this date)

    Fri., July 29:

  • 10 teams would open camp (teams scheduled to play preseason games 15 days from this date)
  • Free agency starts

    Sat., July 28:

  • Trades become official

    Sun., July 31:

  • New York Jets and Houston Texans would open camp (teams scheduled to play preseason games in two weeks from this date)

    Tues. Aug. 2:

  • New NFL league year begins, contracts in effect, and training camps to officially open according to ESPN’s Adam Shefter.
