Report: Randy Moss retires

Former Patriots wide receiver Randy Moss will announce his retirement from the NFL, Moss’s agent told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The 34-year-old Moss played 13 seasons in the NFL, playing for the Vikings (twice), Raiders, Patriots, and Titans during his career.

Patriots fans will of course remember Moss’s extraordinary 2007 season, a season in which the lanky wide receiver caught an NFL-record 23 touchdown passes and had 98 catches overall for 1,493 yards in his first year in New England. The Patriots started that season 18-0 before losing to the Giants in the Super Bowl.

Moss’s tenure in Foxborough did not end as spectacularly as it began, the Patriots trading Moss to Minnesota after the first four games of the 2010 season in exchange for a third-round pick.
