The National Football League has upheld the suspension of New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Twitter.
Payton’s suspension for the entire 2012 NFL season will begin on April 16. General manager Mickey Loomis and assistant coach Joe Vitt also had their suspensions of eight games and six games, respectively, upheld by the league. The financial penalties of the three individuals could be reduced, according to the NFL Network’s Albert Breer.
Former Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is still suspended indefinitely for his role in a bounty scandal involving the team. The Saints were found to be operating a bounty system on opposing players with the intent to injure them.
