The Patriots waived former Boston College center Matt Tennant just a few days after claiming him off waivers, and signed running back Lex Hilliard to take his place on the roster
Hilliard (5-11, 240) was drafted by the Dolphins in the sixth round of the 2008 draft. He signed with the Vikings this offseason but was released at final cutdown.
Scouting report from an NFL personnel executive: “Third running back, good size, downhill runner, not much burst. Average elusiveness and speed. Catches well. Solid special teams player. Tough kid. … Has been flexed to fullback once in a while by Miami but it’s not natural to him. He’s a willing blocker, just doesn’t excel at it.”
