FOXBOROUGH — If there’s one thing the inactives report is good for, it’s confirming who is healthy enough to take the field.
All-pro guard Logan Mankins and starting safety Steve Gregory will both be returning to action for the Patriots today against the Buffalo Bills after missing some time. Mankins had missed the two last two games and three this season because of calf and hip injuries. Gregory had missed the last four games because of a hip injury.
Gregory’s return could help boost the Patriots’ 28th ranked pass defense. With him in the lineup, the Patriots will probably shift Devin McCourty back to cornerback and pair Gregory with rookie safety Tavon Wilson.
Mankins will assume his place at left guard, leaving Donald Thomas on the sidelines as the team’s primary backup.
