Tight end Rob Gronkowski will not play in Sunday’s game in Jacksonville, according to a league source.
Gronkowski, who suffered a broken left forearm in the Patriots’ win over the Colts last month and underwent surgery a day later, returned to practice on a limited basis last Friday. He has also taken part in practices this week, again on a limited basis.
Given that the Patriots have already clinched a playoff spot and may not need Gronkowski against the 2-12 the Jaguars, it is not much of a surprise that he will not play this week. New England will need its All-Pro as close to 100 percent as possible when January comes.
