Preseason Game 4: Giants at Patriots

The NFL will kick off its regular season in exactly one week, but the Patriots still have one more exhibition to complete before the games are meaningful again.

New England will host the New York Giants in the two teams’ ninth straight meeting in the preseason and 23d overall. The Giants hold the edge in their preseason history, leading the series 14-8. New York has won the last three games, including last season’s snoozer, a 6-3 loss for the Patriots.

Both franchises are expected to give their starters some playing time ahead of their regular season openers.

The Patriots are coming off an embarrassing 40-9 defeat to the Detroit Lions and will likely be looking for a chance for a more productive tuneup before facing the Buffalo Bills in Week 1.

The Giants are coming off a 24-21 loss to the New York Jets.
