Danny Amendola: ‘I anticipate being 100 percent shortly’

FOXBOROUGH — Receiver Danny Amendola spent a few minutes talking to the media after Patriots practice Wednesday, the first time he has given interviews since injuring his groin in the season-opening win at Buffalo.

Amendola has missed the past two games, but has practiced in a limited capacity since the opener against the Bills. It was apparent watching him last week that Amendola was physically not close to being able to return. He looked much better Wednesday, and said afterward that he’s eager to get back.

“I anticipate being 100 percent shortly,” he said. “I don’t know when, but I’m getting closer. I’m feeling a lot better, getting a lot of good treatment, running around.”

Amendola gave the standard stock answer — “I’m just going day by day,” which he said a number of times — when asked if there’s a chance he’ll play Sunday against the Falcons in Atlanta.

He had 10 catches for 104 yards in the Buffalo game, but aggravated his groin injury, then spent some time meeting with doctors and specialists as they decided whether surgery would be the best option.

“I got a lot of opinions from different guys,” Amendola said. “Whatever got me on the field fastest and in good health, and where I can do what I can do, that’s the path we’re on now.”
