MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – In addition to being without tight end Rob Gronkowski for the remainder of the season, the Patriots will have to play Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins without wide receivers Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson.
Both were downgraded to out Saturday evening. Thompkins, a Miami native, also missed last week’s game with a hip injury. Dobson has missed the past two games with a foot injury.
The team will have only five wide receivers available, including Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Josh Boyce, Austin Collie, and Matthew Slater.
The Patriots (10-3) face the Dolphins (7-6) with a chance to clinch the AFC East title with a win, New England’s fifth straight division title. But Miami has won four of its last six games, including last week’s win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, 34-28, in the snow.
The weather will be much different setting than what either team has seen in the last week, though, with temperatures at Sun Life stadium expected to hit a high of 85 degrees. Scattered thunderstorms are expected in the region, with a 30 percent chance of rain in the afternoon.
