FOXBOROUGH — Receiver Austin Collie, who saw his snap count reduced to one against the Ravens, was released Friday by the Patriots. It’s the second time he’s been let go after being initially signed Oct. 3.
Collie suffered a knee injury against the Steelers Nov. 3 and was released two days later. He was re-signed exactly one month later, and had played in the past three games. For the season, Collie had six catches for 63 yards.
The release could signal the return of receiver Kenbrell Thompkins, who has missed the last three games with a hip injury. Thompkins has practiced this week on a limited basis, and was listed by the Patriots as questionable to play on Sunday.
