FOXBOROUGH — For the Patriots’ first minicamp practice, only six of 89 players on the roster were not on the field.
Cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, who had not been spotted at voluntary organized team activities, was among the players not spotted on the field for the start of the mandatory three-day minicamp. Neither was wide receiver Aaron Dobson (foot), rookie Dominique Easley, and defensive lineman Armond Armstead.
Also missing from Patriots practice was cornerback Malcolm Butler and linebacker Darius Fleming.
Tight end Rob Gronkowski only took part in the team’s warmups before departing to the Dana Farber Fieldhouse. He was joined by wide receiver Matthew Slater and quarterback Ryan Mallett.
