FOXBOROUGH — Patriots defensive tackle Dominique Easley made his minicamp debut on Thursday inside the Dana-Farber field house.
The first round pick has been rehabbing his right knee after tearing his ACL in 2013, and was wearing a dark grey sleeve that wrapped his knee down to the bottom of his leg.
His first appearance was at right defensive end in a light workout, practicing coming out of his stance. He took his helmet off for the beginning of stretches, and later joined his teammates for the remainder of stretches, but looked sluggish at times. He did not participate in cross-steps and lunges, and was not in on the team drills that immediately followed stretches.
It did not take him long to get back in the mix. Easley was in on an explosion drill in which the defensive linemen would come out of their stance, then plant and cut laterally. The defensive linemen did this drill both to the left and right, and Easley was able to do the exercise both ways. He looked smooth going both directions, but more comfortable going to his right (planting off his left leg) than his left (planting off his right leg).
Here are some more notes from the final day of minicamp.
— Players not spotted: WR Aaron Dobson, CB Malcolm Butler, CB Alfonzo Dennard, WR Wilson Van Hooser, WR Josh Boyce, DL Armond Armstead.
— Rehab group: QB Ryan Mallett, DB Justin Green, LB Darius Fleming, TE DJ Williams, WR Jeremy Gallon.
— Darrelle Revis made his return to practice and was a full participant.
— After stretches, the offense was on one side of the field working on screen plays and the defense was on the other side of the field practicing dropping into zone coverage.
— Vince Wilfork continues to show progress after looking somewhat sluggish at organized team activities. He made an interception in a team drill, and ran it into the end zone, smacking down one of the dummies after reaching the goal line.
— The linebackers had a drill where they were working on dropping into short zone coverage. Linebacker Ja’Gared Davis made a nice interception, planting quickly to his right, leaping into the air and making the grab over his head.
— Special teams drills focused on charging upfield and getting leverage on blockers.
— Stevan Ridley has worn an array of different cleats this spring. He had Captain America cleats during OTAs, Batman cleats during the first two sessions of minicamp, and wore lime green cleats on Thursday.
— Jimmy Garoppolo continued his inconsistent ways, He started off completing his first three passes, but went in the tank at that point and overthrew several consecutive passes at the end of practice.
