Patriots Trailing Washington at Half, 13-0

LANDOVER, Md. — Ryan Mallett got the start for the Patriots but was unable to get the team’s offense going Thursday night in their preseason opener against Washington, going 5 of 12 passing in the first half for 55 yards.

Washington took a 13-0 lead thanks to a 10-yard touchdown pass by Kirk Cousins to Aldrick Robinson, sandwiched by a pair of field goals by Kai Forbath and Zach Hocker.

Brandon LaFell leads the Patriots with two receptions for 16 yards. Rookie running back James White has four carries for 9 yards. Linebacker Steve Beauharnais and safety Tavon Wilson lead the team in tackles with eight each.
