Brady honored

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday’s 31-28 victory over the Falcons. Brady was 22 of 27 for 350 yards and three touchdowns. He threw one interception in posting a passer rating of 140.4.

The drive that set up Adam Vinatieri’s game-winning field goal with 17 seconds left marked the 18th time in Brady’s career that he’s led the Patriots to break a tie or seize a lead in the fourth quarter or overtime.

Brady topped the following AFC nominees: Denver running back Tatum Bell (127 rushing yards, 2 TDs), Cleveland receiver Antonio Bryant (2 TD catches), Indianapolis running back Edgerrin James (105 rushing yards), Bills receiver Eric Moulds (7 catches, 59 yards, TD) and Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (17-of-26 for 225 yards, TD).

The award was the second received by a Patriots player this season.

Kicker Adam Vinatieri was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week in the third week of the season. That week, Vinatieri kicked field goals of 48, 35 and 43 yards against the Steelers (on Sept. 25), with the 43-yarder the game-winner with one second left.
