Ups & downs
Who’s up, who’s down after the Patriots’ 28-20 loss to the Broncos:
Up
Patrick Pass –- Running back totals 64 yards on 10 carries as well as 89 yards on six receptions.
Tom Brady –- Facing heavy pressure throughout, quarterback finishes 24-of-46 for 299 yards and one touchdown.
Mike Vrabel –- Playing a position he’s not accustomed to at inside linebacker, he leads the team with 13 tackles (8 solo, 5 assists).
Down
Logan Mankins –- Rookie left guard is ejected from the game after punching a Broncos player on the final play of the first half.
Duane Starks –- Cornerback was a step behind on two long pass plays, although it was unclear if he was excepting safety help on at least one of them.
Monty Beisel –- Credit the linebacker for playing with a busted hand, but he overran tight end Jed Putzier on a fourth-quarter play that helped Denver ultimately run out the clock.
Looking ahead, we’ll plan on posting our next update Monday morning, with a look around the AFC East.
