Patriots

Quick hits

A few quick hits to pass along:

* Inside linebacker Monty Beisel said he spent last Wednesday-Saturday in the hospital with a hand infection. Speaking on the Sportsbeat show on WSKO in Providence with Scott Corsischi and Bryan Morry yesterday, Beisel said he didn’t practice all week, getting out of the hospital just in time to catch the team’s flight to Denver. The 6-foot-3, 238-pound Beisel didn’t start, and finished with five tackles (3 solo, 2 assists). He played with a large wrap on his right hand after being listed as questionable (50-50) on the team’s injury report.

* Free-agent linebacker Mike Maslowski, whom the Patriots signed to an offer sheet a few years ago, isn’t scheduled to work out with the team at this time, according to his agent Joe Linta. Maslowski, who is rehabbing a knee injury, worked out for his old club, the Chiefs, last week.

* The NFL trading deadline is today at 4 p.m. EDT. It would be a surprise if the Patriots swing a deal.

Looking ahead, we’ll plan on posting another update later tonight.
