Ups & downs
Who’s up, who’s down from the Patriots’ 40-21 loss to the Colts
Up:
Tom Brady –- Quarterback finishes 22 of 32 for 265 yards and three touchdowns.
Nick Kaczur –- For all the hype leading up to the game about his matchup with Dwight Freeney, the rookie left tackle fared well. He did have his share of help with tight ends.
Mike Vrabel –- For the third straight game, he leads the team in tackles (10), while adding his second interception of the season.
Daniel Graham/Stephen Neal –- The duo combined for another touchdown — Graham with a 31-yard catch-and-run and Neal with another big block.
Down:
Corey Dillon –- His fumble in the second quarter changed the momentum of the game.
Coaching –- Trailing 28-14 after scoring with just less than six minutes to play in the third quarter, the Patriots attempted an onside kick. Strange call.
Pass defense –- There’s little pass rush and the secondary is struggling. Cornerback Duane Starks was benched in the second half -– and he wasn’t happy about it -– but he’s not the only culprit.
Tom Ashworth –- Right tackle was beaten twice, one time leading to a Tom Brady fumble.
Looking ahead, there is no media access on Tuesday. We’ll plan on posting a mid-day update.
