In Boston, anything to do with Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is big news. Usually it’s somber: a strained back, a tweaked ankle, or a torn ligament. But on some days, it’s just “Gronk being Gronk.’’
Friday was one of those days, as Gronkowski took to Twitter to share a bit of how he’s spending his offseason.
Just went Grocery shopping and it was cool!! Gotta eat!— Rob Gronkowski (@RobGronkowski) April 5, 2014
Is that tweet news? Probably not. We all go food shopping all the time. But you should take a second to think about what a trip to the supermarket with Rob Gronkowski would be like. ESPN thought about it when they did a feature on him in 2012, and they learned what you’re probably realizing right now: going to the store with Gronk is… different.
See? Your typical weekly trip probably doesn’t feature a star tight end playing catch with a head of lettuce, dropping $500 on food, and then riding out on his cart.
Of course, his grocery shopping hasn’t always been crazy. Back in December, he was still fresh off his torn ACL and MCL and was reduced to riding in a motorized scooter.
But he had surgery in January to fix that knee and, if these pictures from the Ultra Music Festival last weekend are any indication, he’s back up to speed and probably behaving as rambunctiously as ever as he rolls through the cereal aisle.
It’s Gronk’s world, we’re all just living in it.
