After converting a third down with a 12-yard reception on the final play of the first quarter, Edelman limped off the field. Patriots trainers could be seen examining Edelman’s left foot on the sideline before he headed to the locker room. After initially announcing that his return was questionable during the second quarter, the Patriots downgraded his status early in the third quarter.
Edelman was seen on crutches after the game, and the news appeared to go from bad to worse.
