The New England Patriots have already locked up a spot in the upcoming NFL playoffs and secured the AFC East crown for a record-tying seventh straight year. But their regular-season work isn’t done yet.

Up next, the Patriots can secure a first-round bye during Week 15 if results go their way.

Here are two scenarios that would ensure the Patriots can rest during wild card weekend:

•Patriots win AND Denver Broncos lose.

OR

•Patriots win AND Cincinnati Bengals lose AND Broncos tie.

The Patriots host the Tennessee Titans at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. Elsewhere, the Broncos face the Pittsburgh Steelers; and the Bengals play the San Francisco 49ers.
