Gronkowski, Edelman make instant impact against Chiefs

Tom Brady’s friends came to play.

Brady and the New England Patriots’ offense started fast against the Kansas City Chiefs in their divisional-round playoff matchup thanks to early contributions from tight end Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Julian Edelman. After being listed as “questionable’’ on the Patriots’ injury report ahead of the game, Gronkowski and Edelman were on the field at Gillette Stadium on Saturday — and quickly filling up the stat sheet.

Brady connected with Gronkowski three times for 43 yards and a touchdown on the team’s first possession of the day. Edelman reeled in two passes for 24 yards on the first drive, with both receptions moving the chains on the 11-play drive, en route to a 7-0 lead.
