Stephen Gostkowski’s extra-point success streak ended at an inopportune time for the Patriots. The New England kicker failed to convert an extra-point attempt in the first quarter against the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game, snapping a streak of 523 straight makes.
Ater Patriots running back Steven Jackson scored a touchdown late in the first quarter, Gostkowski’s extra-point attempt went wide right. The Broncos led, 7-6, after the miss.
It was just the second missed extra-point try in 564 career attempts for Gostkowski. His only other miss came during his rookie season.
