Tom Brady shares heartfelt remembrance of mentor who made him ‘a better person’

Four years ago Sunday, Tom Brady’s mentor, Tom Martinez, died at the age of 66.

Brady hasn’t forgotten the lessons he learned from his longtime passing coach, he wrote on his Facebook page Sunday.

In the remembrance post, the New England Patriots quarterback thanked his mentor and friend for being “the ultimate example.’’

“I’d be nowhere without your voice in my ear all of these years,’’ Brady wrote.

Martinez, who followed Bill Walsh and John Madden as the head coach at the College of San Mateo, helped Brady with his throwing mechanics since high school, according to the NFL. Martinez also mentored Hall of Famer John Elway.
