Patriots trade for former No. 6 pick Barkevious Mingo
Mingo recorded five sacks in his rookie year in 2013, but none in 2015.
The Patriots are trading with the Browns for 2013 sixth-overall selection Barkevious Mingo, the Patriots announced Thursday. New England is giving Cleveland a fifth round pick for Mingo, according to the Browns’ website.
Mingo has played in 46 games, and started 16. In his three-year career, he has 70 tackles, seven sacks, and an interception. During his rookie year in 2013, Mingo had a career-high five sacks. He had none in the 2015 season.
With the Browns, Mingo has played defensive end, inside linebacker and outside linebacker. The Patriots’ Rob Ninkovich and Shea McClellin have also played both linebacker and defensive end in the NFL.
