Scot McCloughan has been an NFL scout since 1994, an executive since 2000, and played a major role in building Super Bowl rosters in San Francisco and Seattle.
So when the Patriots didn’t trade Jimmy Garoppolo to Cleveland this offseason for draft picks, McCloughan heard the message loud and clear.
“It just says that they like him — they like him quite a bit,’’ McCloughan, most recently the GM in Washington for 2015-16, said in a phone conversation last week. “[Tom Brady’s] not getting any younger. There’s something going forward that they see that can help them win.’’
