One of the most conspicuous Patriots players on the field in Saturday’s preseason loss to the Texans didn’t catch a single pass or even touch the football. Yet Rob Gronkowski’s mere presence was enough to draw a wave of attention.

It was Gronkowski’s first preseason game since 2012, and it left the 28-year-old tight end unfazed.

“We expect to play in every game,” Gronkowski told the media afterward. He showed off his strength as a blocker, and appeared to be unencumbered by the back injury that ended his 2016 season.
