After securing a win in New Orleans on Sunday, the Patriots could be looking at more good news. According to a report, defensive leader Dont’a Hightower might be able to return as early as New England’s next game against the Texans.
Hightower, who injured himself in the season opener against the Chiefs, did not play in the Saints game due to what NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport called an “MCL injury.” Additionally, Rapoport noted on Monday morning that Hightower should either return “this week or next”:
#Patriots LB Dont’a Hightower’s MCL injury was diagnosed as the 2-3 week variety by 2 different doc opinions. Back ether this week or next.

Hightower, 27, re-signed with the Patriots in the offseason after exploring interest from other AFC teams. He’s indisputably one of the leaders of the defending Super Bowl champions. In his career, Hightower has only played a full season once, in 2013.
