The Patriots take on the Giants in their final game of the 2018 preseason:

Fourth quarter

Patriots 17, Giants 12: New York scores in the final minute.

Patriots 17, Giants 6: Danny Etling runs for an 86-yard touchdown.

J.C. Jackson exited the game to be treated for dehydration. 

Third quarter

Jason McCourty re-enters the game at safety: McCourty had played just the first three series of the game.

Patriots 10, Giants 3: Ralph Webb catches a one-yard pass from Danny Etling. K.J. Maye also had a 45-yard reception on the drive.

J.C. Jackson logs his second interception of the night:

Marquis Flowers visits the blue medical tent with a possible concussion: He re-entered the game later in the second quarter.

Second quarter


First-half stats: Danny Etling completes 12 of his 24 pass attempts for 82 yards, throws two interceptions, and logs a 23.3 quarterback rating.

Offensive line Ulrick John is headed to the locker room: John first visited the blue medical tent with an apparent lower left leg or foot injury.

Giants 6, Patriots 3: Kyle Lauletta connects with Amba Etta-Tawo for a 41-yard touchdown.

First quarter

First-quarter stats: Danny Etling completes five of his 11 pass attempts for 27 yards, Ralph Webb logs five carries for 13 yards, and Devin Lucien catches two passes for 19 yards.

J.C. Jackson intercepts Giants quarterback Kyle Lauletta: 

Patriots 3, Giants 0: Stephen Gostkowski gets the Patriots on the board with a 33-yard field goal.

Wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea appears to be calling the offensive plays: Coach Bill Belichick is known to let assistant coaches take over play-calling responsibilities for the final preseason game.

Patriots team doctors took a look at Keion Crossen: The trainers examined his right shoulder and collarbone area.

Cornerback Jason McCourty is getting another look at safety in the Patriots’ starting defense: Others getting the start include defensive end Keionta Davis, defensive tackle Adam Butler, defensive Vincent Valentine, defensive end Derek Rivers, defensive end Geneo Grissom, linebacker Nicholas Grigsby, linebacker Marquis Flowers, cornerback J.C. Jackson, cornerback Keion Crossen, and safety Jordan Richards.


Danny Etling is the Patriots’ starting quarterback: Others getting the start include left tackle Cole Croston, left guard Brian Schwenke, center Ted Karras, right guard Ulrick John, right tackle, Matt Tobin, tight end Will Tye, wide receiver Devin Lucien, wide receiver K.J. Maybe, fullback Henry Poggi, and running back Ralph Webb.


Several Patriots are not expected to play due to health and/or rehab reasons: According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the following players will be sidelined: offensive tackle Marcus Cannon, running back Sony Michel, tight end Jacob Hollister, center/guard Luke Bowanko, tight end Ryan Izzo, linebacker Harvey Langi, and running back Rex Burkhead. Cannon and Michel had returned to practice Monday after missing over a dozen practices, while Bowanko, Izzo, and Langi were absent.
