FOXBOROUGH — Patriots receiver Josh Gordon left the team’s game against the Chiefs with an apparent injury late in the second quarter Sunday night, but returned on New England’s first drive of the third quarter.
Gordon fell hard in the end zone after going up to fight for a ball and got up grabbing at his left shoulder or pectoral area. He went to the sideline and spoke with Patriots trainer Jim Whalen. It then appeared as if Gordon might re-enter the game, but he went in the medical tent instead.
Gordon didn’t make the catch but drew a 37-yard pass interference penalty on the play that set up the Patriots for Sony Michel’s second touchdown of the night, which gave New England a 24-9 lead before halftime.
