While Tom Brady is rooting for the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Championship Series, his No. 1 wide receiver, Julian Edelman, is pulling for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

But not because he’s a fan.

“I hate the Dodgers,” Edelman told reporters in the Patriots locker room, repeating himself again for emphasis. “I hate the Dodgers.”

Like Brady, the Patriots wide receiver grew up in the Bay Area and remains a fan of the San Francisco Giants, who have a heated, long-running rivalry with the Dodgers. Los Angeles is up 3-2 in the NLCS and can secure a World Series appearance against the Red Sox with a win Friday night in Milwaukee.

“I’m a San Francisco guy, so, I mean, it’s like Boston-New York diet over there,” Edelman said Friday. “I hope they do make it, and the Sox pound ’em.”

After video of his comments were posted Friday afternoon, Edelman traded some words with former Patriots tight end, Southern California native, and Dodgers fan Christian Fauria, and admitted that he might be a bit salty about the Dodgers’ success this season. The Giants, on the other hand, finished fourth in the NL West and missed the playoffs.
